Essential obscure music video #4

Our fourth trip down False Memory Lane; relive the memories the first time! This is music you've never heard before, but might like to hear again.

Reesa & the Rooters - "T.M.I."

The Philadelphia band c. 1980 is back again this week, with a song referencing the Three Mile Island meltdown. This one leans much further punk than New Wave, with a thrashy guitar sound. Of course Philadelphia is downwind of the TMI reactor, and a major disaster there could have serious implications here...

Os Mutantes -"Fuga No. 2"

"The Mutants" were Brazil's leading Tropicalia band, melding Beatles-style pop and psychedelia with traditional musics. You should follow up on the link if you're unfamilar with their work. This footage is from Brazilian TV, 1969.

Shocking Blue - "Inkpot"

This Dutch band is best known for their big international hit, the original "Venus." In the US they were a one-hit wonder, but in other parts of the world they had more success. This great pop tune is being promoted on Japanese TV in 1972. Unfortunately, singer Mariska Veres died prematurely of cancer late in 2006.
