We do, actually, have creationism problems. But our Bible-thumpin' snake oil salesmen who've inherited the windbag have nothing on India's Hindu fundies.
India has a shipping canal project that it'd like to build between itself and the island nation of Sri Lanka. There's religious opposition, however, from Hindus who say that such a project would destroy a bridge built by the god Ram and his army of monkeys. Link to brief BBC article. I continue to be dumbfounded by well-meaning Westerners who have declared the grab bag of Eastern mythologies, prejudices and irrationality to be superior to our home-grown equivalents, as well as kinder and wiser.
