That sort of abuse in the mental health system was (is?!) depressingly common.<br /><br />I have a book I haven't gotten around to reading yet titled "The Dark Side of Camelot" by Seymour Hirsch which might possibly shed some light on that, but I suspect it's more about straight up political shenanigans.<br /><br />There's also an out of print book called "Teddy Bare" (!) about you-know-who and the drowning incident.
